Mitral Valve Repair

Opening of Mitral valve ensures the flow of blood from left atrium to left ventricle, and closure keeps blood from flowing backwards. If the mitral valve does not close properly, the blood will leak back into the left atrium causing mitral regurgitation. And if valve does not open fully, the blood flow will be restricted causing mitral stenosis.

A surgery done to repair or replace the mitral valve is Mitral Valve Surgery. It is commonly called Mitral Valvuloplasty.

The procedure can be performed as minimally invasive surgery or open surgery.
